Neighbourhood Frustrations

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhh! So it seems my day of frustrations is not over yet! After spending so many hours at the computer trying to repair the damage done, I thought I would take a break (a break!) and clean the kitchen. As I'm washing the dishes, I look out the windows to see a little neighbourhood kid literally climbing my fence! We'd seen these kids do this before, trying to get their ball, and they had actually ripped a few boards off while climbing. Apparently shouting at them and putting up yard signs wasn't enough! So now I've got to take a little jaunt over to the neighbours to make an ass out of myself. LOL! Have a great weekend!

"Text Talk" Part 7

Oh my gosh! I'm almost sad to say this is my last piece of "Text Talk!" I hope you've all enjoyed it! And if anyone has any layouts made with it, I'd love to see them! You can post them in our Layout Gallery for all to see at MyDigitalAddiction.com.

CRASH!

You would not believe what happened to me today. It's the Digital Scrapper's Ultimate Horror Show: a wierd virus attack (despite McAfee!), in fact the virus seemed to disable my antivirus, and would then start playing porn movies on my screen along with Rap Music Lyrics. I've lost everything - my entire hard drive, including everything I have acquired in the last 3 months! I've spent the last 9 hours attempting to get my PC at least running again. I'll try to get the final installment of "Text Talk" up tonight. Wish me luck!

"Text Talk" Alpha

Happy Memorial Day to all of those who celebrate it. I actually had to work today, so no backyard grilling for me! My boyfriend was off, though, so he stayed home and cooked the best pork taquitos with guacamole that I have ever tasted! That was really a treat to come home to after 12 hours!

Yesterday was his birthday. I took a huge risk and bought him a PS3. He was so excited (and admittedly way too old to be excited about this)! Needless to say, he played the entire day. Not sure if I'll ever see him again. LOL!

Here's the next installment of "Text Talk." This time it's the coordinating alpha:

"Text Talk" Part 5

Not only is this a long weekend, being Memorial Day here in the United States, but it is also my boyfriend's birthday! So I've spent the entire day shopping for his birthday present. I don't dare say what I got him in case he gets on here and reads about it, but I'll be sure to let you know his reaction - I'm really excited about it!

Here's Part 5 to "Text Talk." Be sure to look back and get Parts 1-4 if you've missed them. There are a few more parts to come, so keep coming by to visit!

The Stark Museum of Art

I am a huge, huge fan of art... not only because it is beautiful and a source of enjoyment and relaxation. Art also has power and influence - it evokes emotion and thought, it can affect society and culture. Look at history and how art has always had a place in monarchies, politics and class distinction.

However, the appreciation of art does not have to be on such a grand scale. All beauty is not in Paris and London! Many small cities and towns across the United States have their own collections. These smaller, local collections present their own history, more personal and often more meaningful. One such example is the Stark Museum of Art in Orange, Texas. This museum, founded in 1978, is home of one of the finest collections of 19th and 20th century Western American art and artifacts in the country. Collections currently include Western Art (showcasing, amoung many others, one of my favorite of the American West artists, Frederic Remington), American Indian Art, Decorative Arts, as well as Rare Books and Manuscripts.

The Stark Museum of Art began with collections from Lutcher Stark and his mother, Miriam Lutcher Stark. Both became avid collectors of American art. Lutcher went on to collect American Indian objects in New Mexico. In 1943 Lutcher married Nelda Childers and together they continued to add to their collections. In 1961 they founded the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission to enrich the quality of life in Southeast Texas through education and the arts. Today this foundation carries out it's mission through the programs of, amoung other things, the Stark Museum of Art, and Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.

For more information, stop by the Stark Museum of Art's website, or take a trip to Orange, Texas and visit them in person!

"Text Talk" Part 4

Hi guys! I've gotten a couple of messages asking that I allow comments on 4shared. The reason I don't is because I don't always get back to read them, and I would hate to miss even one. So if you would like to leave a comment, please do so here on the blog. I read and appreciate every one of them! That being said, here is Part 4 of "Text Talk." Enjoy!

Vacation Memories

The greatest vacation I've ever had is when my entire family drove down to Orlando, Florida in the early 1990s. Being from a large family, big vacations were rare, so this trip was extra special for all of us. We quickly found that there are so many things to do in Orlando! Believe me, when you drive down from Canada in the middle of the winter, not only is just getting out of the car a relief, but the weather in itself is a vacation! We would have been happy just to lay in the sun on the beach! Of course Disneyland was an experience of a lifetime, but best of all, I think are the great memories I have of the time spent with my parents, brothers and sisters.

If you are considering a vacation, or are looking for Things to do in Boston, Las Vegas or San Fransisco, you may want to check out Trusted Tours & Attractions. They have a multitude of sightseeing tours in over 20 cities throughout the United States. They are also currently offering a special promotion where you can win a $150 itunes gift card by signing up for their newsletter. The newsletter will provide you with informative, useful, and practical articles as well as money saving deals.

Scrapping in Slo-Mo!

Am I the only one who gets so busy downloading and designing Digital Scrapbooking kits, that I forget why I love this in the first place?! I actually forget to scrap! LOL! I started scrapping my sister's wedding TWO YEARS AGO and I'm still not done! I promised this to her as a gift! As I slowly scrap it, the pictures bring back great memories. It was an awesome wedding! I was lucky enough to be the official photographer. I'll have to show you the pictures some time because I'm pretty proud of them... maybe once I actually get them scrapped!

I had arrived a week before the wedding and like crazy women, we attempted to cram all of the planning and organizing into that short amount of time. Talk about stress!

Thank-God, all of the larger details, such as the venue, reception, and invitations were already looked after. Being very talented and artistic, she wanted to do as many things as she could by herself. She had some beautiful, handmade invitations - much like those at 1st Class Wedding Invitations. This website boasts being the only wedding invitation site to feature their unique zoom characteristic that allows a ultra close-up of each product.

New FREE Text Talk Kit

I don't know if it's like this elsewhere, but around where I live, no matter where you go, you see people buried in their cell phones, Blackberries, etc texting. Texting, texting, texting. So, I thought, we need a kit for that! So I made my newest kit called, "Text Talk." I'm going to give it away a little differently this time. I've divided it up into several smaller pieces and am going to give it away from my blog a chunk at a time.

Here's a layout I made with it. This is me and my buddy Melody. Everytime we get together we have the best time. We used to work together and since we haven't for some time now, I miss her! So, Melody, if you're reading this, I miss you!

Now here's the latest. There's a matching alphabet that I will be giving away along with the kit. Be sure to drop by in the next little while to get all of the pieces!

Frustrated!

If you are a regular reading around here, you'll know that our "Biggest Loser" at work is winding up. I am so NOT winning! It makes me sick because the pot is now over $700, but it seems that no matter how much I work out or how little I eat, there is no change. Is this what happens when you get over 35?! LOL! Maybe I should look up a good lapband surgeon!

OMG!

I think I need a maid... you know, someone who could come in here and run the household while I just sit here and Design. LOL! I don't know how all of you Moms out there do it with kids and husbands and life...! There's just me and my boyfriend and each time I am designing I am thinking I should probably be cleaning, or working on the yard... always something!

Right now I'm in the middle of Designing a kit. I'll keep it under wraps until I'm done, but until then, here's a little preview you can download:

A Day Off!

I finally have a day off! With my "real job" schedule, when I work, I really only have time to work. So on the days that I'm off, I have to cram everything into that short period of time... laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, banking, bill paying and all of the other wonderful errands that I love so much. So, I've just got to finish my little note about a list broker and I'm off to get some groceries! Hopefully I'll get back and have some time to do some Digital Designing today! Have a great one!

Happy Mother's Day!

Since I have to work tomorrow, I wanted to stop by and wish all of the Mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day! I hope your children and families all realize how wonderful you are and all of the sacrifices that you make every single day!

I also wanted to make sure that you all saw the "Sunshine Girls'" collaboration kit for Mother's Day, called "A Mother's Love." As always, these Designers put together a real treat - their collaboration kits are amoung my favorites! Thanks so much to all of you!

Reality TV

Is there anybody else still in to Reality TV? I should probaby be embaressed to admit it, but although I'm not a big TV watcher, pretty much the only shows I watch are "Reality Shows". There's something about the drama and rooting for the underdog that is appealing, I suppose.

FREE "For Mothers" Quick Page

I just received a request from Shelly for a Quick Page of the layout I made of my Mother. Great idea - thanks for the suggestion! Here it is! I will also put it in the Download section of the site ASAP.

My Mom

Inevitably, as Mother's Day approaches, I think more and more about my Mom. I have a pretty incredible mother. She has raised 15 successful children, while at the same time maintaining a wonderful relationship with each of them. This afternoon my boyfriend asked me who was closest to my mother, and I couldn't answer the question. But as I thought of it later, I thought how special it is that each of us probably think we are the closest.

So here's a layout made with my recent release, "For Mothers." That's me, as a baby and my two older brothers with my Mom. I wanted to create something simple, not even trying to find words because this is how I know my Mother: smiling brightly, always.

I also took some time to look through the gallery at DST, looking for layouts featuring Mothers. It's very beautiful and inspiring to see how others convey thier emotions. Check these out - you can click on the image for more details:

Weekend Vacation

I have been dying to travel lately. Every once in a while I get the itch. I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to accompany me on little weekend getaways... maybe to a bed and breakfast, maybe a jaunt over to the casinos, or at least a fun little weekend road trip... just something! LOL! Whenever we go on road trips, we usually like to get a car rental. If you are ever wanting to rent a car, you may want to consider Advantage Rent a Car. Advantage is currently offering specials and discounts SUVs, vans and more! So check out their website and book a vacation for the weekend!

Gardens and Flowers

One thing I desperately wish I had was a green thumb. Especially around this time of the year, when beautiful flowers are blooming all around us. This year, I thought I would maybe venture out and try my hand at gardening again... see how far I can get without killing anything! I have a couple of planters in the front walkway of my house. Maybe I'll go tomorrow and get some flowers...

I was cruising the layout gallery at DST. Check out these gorgeous layouts, inspired by the garden and full of flowers! Click on the images for more information:

Review of SocialSpark

Here's an interesting business and social opportunity for the Bloggers and Designers. I'm sure you have probably noticed that I occasionally have blog entries for advertising purposes. This is what helps pay for the "My Digital Addiciton" site. Now the company providing these advertising opportunities is expanding. SocialSpark brings bloggers and advertisers together in an online community.

Now I've got to admit, I don't find the site all that informative, so signing up and learning how it all works is not the easiest. However, I got my profile up (My Digital Addiction Blog Profile) and am awaiting authorization.

The site is more eye-catching than others of its kind. It also contains a lot of useful information and utilities, which I'd like to keep an eye on and use. There is a charting tracing your last month's RealRank, Alexa Rank, pageviews and visitors. You can link to others and create a blog roll. I especially like the demographics section... it gives you a graphic representation of your traffic by country, a list of your top referrers, your top outgoing links, and your demographics by sex and age... all very useful information!

There are already several Digital Scrapbooking folks already signed up, so come on and get in on the fun!

Let me know if you like it or not! You can click on the preview below to be taken to the Download section of My Digital Addiction. Remember it's ALL FREE! ALL DIGITAL! ALL THE TIME!!!

OUCH!!!

ARRRRGGGGHHHH! Does anything hurt worse than a burn?! I was boiling water and somehow, in my utmost brilliance, splashed some onto my stomach. Man, does that hurt. That was more than a week ago! At the time I thought, I'd just apply some ice and grin and bear it... it'd go away. Well, it hasn't! The pain doesn't ease and it looks worse that ever! Gross!

So anyways, please excuse my lack of presence lately... I've got a ton of things going on and it really hurts (for whatever reason!) to sit!

Quick Preview and Freebie

We just spent most of the day weeding the flower beds on the front lawn (NOT my most favorite passtime!) so I am just chillin' here, trying to finish up a kit I've been working on in honor of Mother's Day. Here's a quick little freebie for you all... kind of a preview of what's to come. Have a great weekend!

Piracy Temporarily Resolved

Ok! I think I've got my pirating issues resolved. At least the ones I am aware of. Man! Do you know how violating it is to find your stuff on someone else's site?! My instinct is to get some immediate vigilante justice... you know, trade in my heels and skirt for some police boots and BDU Pants and throw down in the parking lot! LOL!

Now I can get back to Designing!
