Happy Halloween!

I don't know what got into my very small brain, but I volunteered to work tonight because everyone else wanted to be out with their kids. I have these unexplainable surges of compassion while at the same time knowing that I'm going to wonder what was I thinking?! I'm going to squeeze a quick nap in, then somehow stay up all night. Have a great time out there, everyone, and be safe!

Here's the second to last part of Girls' Night Out, Part 19. Enjoy!

Binoculars

When we decided to go to Alaska for our Honeymoon, we were given a list of "must-haves." These included such things as a camera, rain jackets and a good attitude. One suggestion that I was very grateful for was good binoculars. I researched binoculars and found out more than I ever thought I would need to know about them. I came to the conclusion that the Nikon Monarch and Trailblazer Binoculars were the best options for our plans.

Although my new Husband initially questionned my purchase, he wore the binoculars around his neck the entire trip! It was worth it just to hear him admit that I was right!

Girls' Night Out (Part 18)

One minute so that I can brag on two things: first aren't my 3 neices so beautiful? I can't believe they're growing up so fast and that I live so far away that I can't enjoy them! Secondly, didn't my little (well, she's not so little any more, I guess...) sister, Sharon do a beautiful job on this picture? I just love the warmth of this picture! She captured the colors so beautifully!

Ohhh... we're almost done! This is Part 18 of 20. It's just the alphabet - I gave the background paper away in a previous download, so check previous posts if you didn't already get it!

Girls' Night Out (Part 17)

Alrighty! In to the end stretch! There are only 3 more downloads after this one - 20 in all. I know. That's a little excessive, but all those textures make for big, big files! So hang in there - we're almost done! Here's Part 17. I know I've given this one away before, so this is for those who didn't get it.

Shutterfly Insider Secrets!

I wanted to let you all in on some incredible deals that Shutterfly is currently having. Every once and a while they have these incredible sales that are just too incredible to resist! At my wedding shower, a few of the girls at work got together and bought me a gift certificate from Shutterfly and I'm thinking it might just be the perfect time to redeem it! Girls' Night Out (Part 16)

I have 2 days off and I feel like the Queen of England! There's nothing so sweet as sleep when you are so tired you can't see straight! I'm going to laze around all day... sleep, watch TV, I may paint a little... I've been working on my kitchen really slowly and I wish I would just finish it already!

Here's Part 16 of Girls' Night Out:

Girls' Night Out (Part 15)

Sorry for missing a few days, there! I ended up working the whole weekend - not a bad thing, because it was with my favorite crew and we had a great time! I was so tired by today, though, that I called and begged to get the day off... without success. It was actually quite busy for a Monday and we were short-staffed. So we delivered babies all day long.

Here's the 15th piece of Girls' Night Out. We're getting near the end, I promise!

Girls' Night Out (Part 14)

Stressfull, stressfull day, which I will tell you all about sometime. Sometime when my brain is actually working. The weather's been so gorgeous here recently and I haven't even been out to enjoy it. I've been wanting to get out for walks everyday and I've been such a basket case I haven't done it once!

Here the next piece to Girls' Night Out. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Girls' Night Out (Part 13)

Good Morning! I couldn't sleep, so I got up early (4:30, go figure!) and thought I would get caught up on my blogging. So sorry for missing a couple of days... I've got a few things going on in my life that will get sorted out.

There have been a couple of folks asking about a kit I was giving away months ago, called "We're Pregnant!". First of all, thanks for asking because that's how reliable my brain is! I get right into the middle of things and then forget why I'm there! I need folks like you! The answer is YES! How about as soon as this kit is done, we'll go on and finish up "We're Pregnant!"?

Alright. Here is Part 13 of "Girls' Night Out." Enjoy!

Girls' Night Out (Part 12)

I had a great day at work today! You know I don't often say that! It was just steady enough to keep me busy all day long with great girls to work and talk with. We laughed all day. Gotta love it! But I have to go back again tomorrow, so I'm going to try to get an early night... I've been working a lot of extra shifts and am getting a little run down. So here is Part 12 of "Girls' Night Out." I've given this away before, so you may have it in your collection... Either way, enjoy!

Girls' Night Out (Part 11)

Hey Guys! Hope everyone's having a great weekend! I've been painting my kitchen all morning... So now I'm all sore in strange areas and am taking a break!

Here is Part 11 of Girls' Night Out. It's a alpha - the paper was included in a previous download. Check back to get it if you haven't already! I'll be leaving all the downloads up until the entire kit has been given away. Enjoy!

Help with Web Hosting

I wish, wish, wish I had run upon a site like this before starting my own Digital Scrapbooking store! Like many Designers just starting out on their own, I began with a lot more excitement than experience, and with a lot less knowledge than creativity. Not that there is anything wrong with that - after all, weren't all the greatest artists in history a little lacking on the business side? Unfortunately for me, the knowledge came at a price. Without knowing enough about Web Hosting companies, I signed up with one I thought would serve my purposes. I learned the hard way that not all companies are honest or interested in customer service.

There are many ways to learn how to run a Digital Scrapbooking website before jumping in, blind, with both feet. Web Hosting Geeks offers a great service that I could have certainly benefitted from before creating my Digital Scrapbooking website. It is a list of many web hosting companies with honest feedback and reviews. This is very important, especially when it comes to customer service. I would definitively recommend reading this prior to making a webhosting decision! They also have a worthwhile web hosting blog which contains lots of valuable information for anyone considering running a website.

Girls' Night Out (Part 10)

Well... I got a different green for the kitchen and I still don't like it. Know when you have an idea in your head and you can't quite match it? That's where I'm at. I might just keep painting to see if it grows on me.

In other news, I worked today with my good buddies and now I'm tired. So I'm just going to whip the next part of Girls Night Out at you and run. Thanks for the comments! They're always so nice!

Paint and Part 9

We have a beautiful fresh, bright morning here in Texas, which you won't hear me say much. I've been working on painting my kitchen - I'm painting the walls and cabinets - but I'm not crazy about the wall color. So I'm off to the store to get something different.

Here's the Girls' Night Out piece for today. Enjoy and have a great day!

Look Up Phone Numbers

If you ever need to look up a phone number, here's a little tip. Say, for example, you would like to see who is calling you, check out this new website, National Phone Registry. This site is user-friendly and allows you to access detailed information on any phone number in the United States.

Growing Seeds and Part 8

Ahhhh...! A day to relax at home! I've been so exhausted, I slept until 9am! So first I have to show you this - I love my Husband to death but he gets these ideas in his head and goes nuts with it for a while. For the last couple of months he's been in to growing seeds. Yeah, that's right. He will go to the grocery store and get all kinds of different fruits and nuts, come home, eat them (or pretend like he's made me some exotic dish with mango chutney) then try to grow the seeds. His obsession with this tickles me to death. I watch him every morning run down to the window where he's got them all lined up to check out any progress. This was all fine until he took over my photography studio because the windows gave more light!

Then he got it into his head that he was going to "help" me decorate our newly furnished living room. Hmmm... Check out what he came up with. That is a tile left over from our kitchen's backsplash with four felt pieces on the bottom. Seriously, Honey?! And then a dried rose stuck into a little vase. Niiiiiccce!

Alrighty! Here is Part 8 of Girls' Night Out... a couple more pieces. Enjoy!

Wrong Number?

This has happened to me a million times: the phone rings at a very inopportune time and when I drop everything to run and get it, I find that it is from a telemarketing company. Here is a website to Report Phone Numbers and to let others know who is calling.

Wild Alpha

Good Morning! It one of those quiet, dreary-looking days here and having two days off, I plan on doing as little as I can without feeling guilty! I have been working on redecorating my kitchen. It's terribly bland - painted only in white with a hideous, metallic (no less!) unmatching border around the top. I've been fighting for the last week to get this stupid border off. Big thanks to the IDIOTS who literally glued it on for eternity! I might get another inch of that done today...

Besides that, I have a hairdresser appointment of which I am in desperate need. So here's Part 7 of Girls' Night Out. It's an alpha that I just love. Enjoy!

Website Reviews

This is kind of interesting... here is a website that publishes Website Reviews by users, along with visitor and site statistics. There are categories for "Top Websites," kids, sports, travel and much more. Check out and review your own website or look up and review your favorite Digital Scrapbooking website!

Girls' Night Out (Part 6)

Here's Part 6 with a Preview. A couple of Readers requested a preview of each so I thought it wouldn't kill me. LOL!

Area Code Finder

Ever get a phone call from a number you are not sure of and you think you could probably guess who it is if you just knew where that area code comes from? Here's an Area Code Finder that lets you do just as well as providing a list of phone numbers within each area code.

Girls' Night Out (Part 5)

I spent a rough weekend at work. I don't know what the deal is... I like to work weekends because they are easy and pleasant. No one is breathing down your neck, questionning you and monitoring you. But this weekend was rough! So now I'm tired and sore. And too tired to even veg out in front of the TV. So here's Part 5 of Girls' Night Out before I take off to bed!

Eyeglasses

I haven't been to the Eye Doctor for about ten years. It's rediculous, but about ten years ago I had laser surgery on my eyes to improve my vision and I have not gone back since! So now, as I am getting older I am once again starting to experience the joys of deteriorating vision. So it's time to go back. I know myself well enough to know that I'm going to have to get eyeglasses again. NOT looking forward to that. When you have to start wearing glasses, you have to start admitting that you are getting older. I'm not ready for that yet!

I found an online store called Zenni Optical that offers eyeglasses for as low as $8 a pair. Their secret to great prices is that they only sell their own manufactures frames directly to the customer, avoiding middlemen and an advertising budget. Lord knows right now how we could all use a little break! I could certainly use prices like that! I never spend over $10 on my Shades because I am guaranteed to lose them, sit on them or crush them in my purse. They come in all kinds of fun colors and shapes - take a look at this pair:

You can see what others are saying about Zenni Optical by following this link.

Girls' Night Out (Part 4)

Ok. I've had a long, rough day at work and am going to hit the sack early tonight in order to be ready to do it all over again tomorrow. So here's the next part of the kit. Enjoy!

Area Code Locator

Here's a little tip if you're ever trying to Locate Area Codes. It's a new website that allows users to search for phone numbers and locate area codes. I've used such services several times when I have had an annoying caller and I wanted to know where they were calling from.

A Real Fall

Living in Texas, there are a few things I miss. One thing is the distinct changing of the seasons that we see in the more northernly parts. Where I live there are no gorgeous, vibrant changing of the leaves, just a slight tinge and then it's gone. Growing up we used to go on nature hikes, climbing mountains, enjoying the fall. I miss that a lot, especially when I see pictures like this from my sister...

And if that's not enough, just look at this cute little thing. This is my sister and her daughter. They are planning to meet us in Cancun for Christmas and I cannot WAIT!

Family Tree

Often when one is interested in Digital Scrapbooking and preserving memories for future generations, they are also interested in researching thier family tree. Although this is something I've always been intrigued by, I've always felt the task to be too daunting. However, there are now some great resources online to help with this complicated process.

Girls' Night Out (Part 3)

Ok, so I decided to stop making previews of each piece of "Girls' Night Out." It's just too tedious and time consumming. I'm not so in to that. So I'm just going to attach the entire kit preview... hope you all don't mind. I'll leave it all up for a while so you can be sure to get the whole kit.

Meanwhile, it's cheat day (on our diets) and my Husband is taking me out somewhere. So I will catch you all later!

Research!

I wanted to throw a word of caution out there to all of the DigiScrappers, Designers and potential website or online store owners out there. I have mentionned this previously, but thought I should reenforce the whole issue because of the extreme inconvenience and hassle it has caused me.

Please, please, please research your webhosting service to DEATH! It is so vital to know what you are getting in to! Running a Digital Scrapbooking website is time-consumming enough. You do not need the distraction of a webhost service that does not meet your needs or your expectations. This only serves to take time away from Designing and other passtimes that you may enjoy. I would strongly recommend using a rating website such as Webhosting Rating as a resource when you choose to make this decision. This site can guide you into choosing a service provider that can actually meet your specific needs. It allows you to view and compare the many different prices and plans available through a variety of different companies. You can also make use of the valuable information for help with such topics as ecommerce strategies etc. If I can save one person half the money and stress this has caused me, I will be happy.

Girls' Night Out (Part 2)

I'm enjoying this so much already! A little less stress is always a good thing, and knowing that I have one less thing to think about is actually feeling kinda good right now!

I had a nice day at work today. It doesn't matter how busy it is when the people you work with are great... and I was working with a great group today. They all work well together, are supportive of each other and we laugh a lot. It makes the day more enjoyable and it makes time go faster so that we can all get home to our families sooner. Love that.

My Dearest Husband is watching TV. Since I'm Canadian, I have no desire to watch the Presidential Debates so I decided to make my friend at work a cake. Apparently her most favorite cake is a pound cake - which I have never made in my life. She's been begging one of the girls to make it for her, but it's never happened, so I'm going for it... Wish me luck. I'd hate to make a fool of myself, bringing them in something disgusting!

Finally, here's the second part to "Girls' Night Out." Enjoy!

New Plans, New Freebie!

As there often is, my website disaster had a silver lining. I took some time to think about what I wanted to do and decided to refocus my attentions on other things. I will not reopen MyDigitalAddiction.com, but will instead operate from this blog AND I will continue to give away my freebies, as always. I've renovated my blog and am starting fresh!

Thanks so much Brittney, Vera and everyone else who faithfully comes to my blog, leaving comments and emails - Thank-you for all of your support and encouragement.

AND NOW.... for my first big freebie! "Girls Night Out" was a customer favorite when I owned a store. It's fun and bold, naughty and nice, with a touch of both grunge and bling. It's for those great girls nights when no guys are allowed. It's pretty big in size, so I'm going to divide it up into several smaller pieces and give it away over the next little while. The first piece is below.

A NEW "My Digital Addiction"

Please bear with me, folks, as I update...

Thursday, October 2, 2008

My Digital Addiction is GONE!

To all of my Customers and Friends: From the moment I opened "My Digital Addiction" I have had significant issues with my Hosting provider. Because of these issues, I quickly realized I would have to change Hosts in order to provide the service I wanted to my customers. I changed to a Host I have been very happy with and have not had a single other issue. However, I never received a refund from the original Host of several hundreds of dollars. I'm not a big-time designer, in fact I only give my designs away. So I'm sure you understand that I do not have that sort of expendible cash floating around. Despite numerous attempts at resolution, including everything short of a lawsuit, this situation remains unresolved. Today, despite my understanding otherwise, my domain registration expired and the original company has not been forcoming with the required documentation to reinstate it. So as of now, "My Digital Addiction" is no more.

If the situation changes, so may the outcome. Until then, please continue to visit me at this blog where all will continue as usual.
